Be careful when cooking outdoors! Don’t let a backyard BBQ ruin your day. BBQ pits (gas or charcoal) should never be placed on your deck or within 10 feet of your home. This includes attached porches and balconies. Proper care should always be taken when disposing of coals or ash. Ash and coals from a BBQ pit on a deck can easily fall below the decking starting a fire that will quickly spread. Always closely supervise your cooking and have a water source or fire extinguisher nearby. Several fires have occurred in Terrell Hills as a result of outside cooking operations. For further safety tips please visit our web page, call us at 210-824-7401 or email email@example.com.
Have you recently purchased a fire extinguisher? The Kidde Fire Extinguisher Company has issued a recall for over 4.6 million fire extinguishers. Many of the extinguishers were sold at retailers such as Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes. For more information please click on the link below or give us a call at the fire station. We would be happy to inspect your extinguisher and determine if it was affected by the recall. Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall Notice
Is your gate locking out the Fire Department? Have a Gate, Get a Knox Box!
Does your property contain a gate across your driveway like the picture below? Did you ever wonder how the fire department would access your property in the event of an emergency?
The City of Terrell Hills participates in the Knox Box rapid entry system. This allows us to have a non-destructive way to access your property in the event of a fire or medical emergency. The Knox Box rapid entry system is a proprietary key lock system that allows all key boxes and gate lock switches within the City of Terrell Hills to use the same key. The fire department carries this key in a lock box on the fire truck. A gate lock or key box can be installed on new or existing gates. We currently have about 15 property owners that have installed a Knox Box on their property. For more information please contact Assistant Fire Chief Justin Seibert at 210-824-7401 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
